2011 Merchant Marines - Liberty Ship

2011 Merchant Marines - "WWII Liberty Ship" 
This design was painted for use for the AFDCS - CMA Chapter to use for their
#10 Envelope that carried the CMA "Left-Sider" Newsletter. 
I decided to paint the design onto a regular #6 envelope so the time painting would result in a collectable FDC!  I was quite pleased with the finished cover and if it does not sell I am considering entering it into the 2011 AFDCS Cachetmaker's Contest. 
The idea is to match up this design for the Liberty Ship Stamp  with appropriate designs for each of the other three stamps in the issue making a nice Set of Four.  Let me know if interested in putting a set onto the Schedule!

While I was preparing to obtain my cancellations for the 2008 "Fins & Chrome" issue I came across this 50s Sporty Cars "Practice Cover" that I had never put any stamps on... so, I put the  Lincoln stamp onto it and included this one with my other "Fins & Chrome" blanks.  Back in 2005 I had just been playing around with the wild purple background, but never thought I'd actually use it.  I added the Type and checkerboard graphics to link both stamp issues - that is the 1950s Cars that are the subject of both sets.  The checkerboard is actually SILVER metallic and looks much better than the scan.  This "odd-ball" is of course also a ONE OF A KIND cover... kind of a "fun" addition to anyone's collection!

2007 Jamestown - Edward Wingfield - #8 of 10

While painting the Six Covers in Set #3 of 10 I struggled with this Edward Wingfield cover
feeling that the background color was too dark in the cancel area. 
I repainted it for Set #3 and designated this one as - #8 of 10. 
Other than the "problem area" the resulting cover is the same as the one that I preferred. 
Because it is to a small degree "flawed" I am offering it at the reduced price of only

1958 "Fan Mail" - Russ Tamblyn - "High School Confidential" Add-On

Here's a "Fan Mail Add-On" Cachet - Hand Drawn, Hand Painted depicting actor Russ Tamblyn - to whom the cover was addressed and mailed.  The cover was sent to Tamblyn in 1958 so I chose to illustrate the film "Highschool Confidential" that came out in 1958. 
My personal favorite Tamblyn role was the
youngest brother in the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".

2007 Jimmy Stewart - Cover Featured in
Chris Calle's "The Art of the Cachet" Exhibit

2007 Jimmy Stewart - Spirit of St. Louis - #2 of 12

This "Spirit of St. Louis" cover that was painted and sent to Chris Calle for inclusion in his "The Art of the Cachet" Exhibit.  This cover was displayed in the 2008 Hartford, CT. Stamp Show and again the following year in Arlington, TX.  This is the actual cover that was in the exhibit and would make an interesting addition to your collection!

1998 Add-On - Dual Cancel US "Cinco de Mayo" / Mexico "Festividades Mexicanas"

Awhile back I did this design for a good Customer in New York... I had three Dual Cancel Blanks, so made it an issue of Three for this Design.  I painted and delivered the "1 of 3" cover and painted "2 of 3" assembly line fashion... *("3 of 3"  is partially painted and could be ready to go very quickly.)  Since my technique has been changing, I took the liberty of adding the cream colored background to this one.  The "1 of 3" has a white background.  This nice Add-On can be added to your collection for only...

2011 TEXPEX Show Cover...

The AFDCS Fred Sawyer North Texas Chapter 56 Celebrated its 25th Anniversary at 2011 TEXPEX. 
I created this Anniversary Cover for the event using the 2011 Ronald Reagan FDC
and the "Almost Texan" appearing Reagan image to commemorate the occasion! 
This very limited edition copy is signed at the show by:
Bart Forbes - the Designer of the Stamp
and
Bob Emrick - the Cachet Artist.  
This is a PRINTED cover NOT Hand Painted. 
The Original Artwork is Framed and Hanging in the McDermott Library/Special Collections Area on the University of Texas at Dallas Campus.

This is another of my "early" designs done in my first full year of cachet making.  I came out with this first design for the 2006 "Snowflakes" issue and couldn't quite make up my mind about the background for it.  Hence the two versions seen here.  The darker blue background was one of my first tries at using the dreaded "air brush".  I haven't really put that 'ol airbrush to much use over these past few years... since discovering pastels for backgrounds it doesn't look like I'll be using it much in the future either... but, you never say never!  I now have a "better idea' for finishing out my supply of 40 blanks for these... instead of all being "Cardinals" I will come up with three other bird species that are commonly seen in the snow and have a different bird for each of the four Snow Flakes.

2007 Ella Fitzgerald - "Love and Kisses" - #1 of 12

This is the first of several designs I have done for the 2007 Ella Fitzgerald Issue... "Love and Kisses".  This Dual Cancel Cover has the FDC for the 2007 "Love" issue and FD Cancel for the 2007 Ella Fitzgerald stamp... going together nicely since Ella's first recording was the song "Love and Kisses" on the Decca Label. 
This is the number 1 of 12 for this design. 
I have changed the type on the Record Label slightly for later paintings of this one, but this one stands up and is a nice addition to any collection!  You can see on the Ella Fitzgerald page of this website that on the latest one I painted I added the 'ol Pastel background and modified the design slightly.  I do have a few more of the 12 blanks that can be painted in the latest version if you prefer it to this one.
