When I discovered eBay back in 1997 the ease of finding and purchasing stamps rekindled my interest in Stamp Collecting.
Before too long I discovered there was more to Philately than simply putting stamps into album spaces. Always being
interested in history I was drawn to "Stamps On Envelopes"... "Covers". The more "covers"
I saw, the more I wanted to add to my new "collection". I learned that many years ago artists began embellishing
the covers with "cachets" or illustrations that usually depicted images that related to the subject of the stamp
or stamps on the cover. As my personal collection grew I became more aware of certain Cachet Makers and found that I
wanted to obtain this one or that one that this Cachet Maker had done or that Cachet Maker's latest... Being a person
of many interests and hobbies which include music, art, cars, etc., one fine day it dawned on me that it would be fun to combine
the "art" with the "stamps". I gave Cachet Making a try and with the help of a few established Cachet
Makers I slowly found my way and started Emrick Cachets. I do not expect to get rich doing this, it just won't happen...
but my motivation is in the satifaction I get each time I finish the latest design and post it here on my site.
That plus knowing that my work will make its way into collections around the world has made this whole effort worthwhile for
me. So when I tell someone that I'm a Cachet Maker I stand ready to explain about "covers" and "first
day cancels" and "cachets"... it's all part of the fun! Right now I'm still holding down a very full
time job in Commercial Printing. My schedule of cachets to be painted has remained very full for the past couple of
years. I take the time necessary to give each cover my best effort and so far my Customers have been very pleased
with the results. Let me know if you have any questions... or would like to place a request for a nice cachet... there's
always room for one more! All you need is a little patience... the wait time is usually four to six months.
