2006 - Hattie McDaniel #3996

I painted a total of Seven Designs for the Hattie McDaniel stamp.  This was one of the very early group of designs that I came out with that year.  At the time I was actually drawing the design oversized, scanning the outline (keyline) and printing it on the envelopes, and then with watercolor I hand painted each.  This stamp issue proved to be a very popular one for me and very few of these are available today... I do have additional FDC Blanks that could be used for new additional designs... using my more recent styles and methods.

The First Design utilized the Gone With the Wind Movie Poster...

I added the silhouette of "Mammy" since she is the subject of my design!

Another Design centered around Hattie's famous role of "Mammy" in Gone with the Wind.

I used an image of Hattie in "Street Cloths" but still used "Tara" as a back-drop...

Here I focused on the Awards and Memorials for Hattie...

One of my favorites, this one remembers Hattie as "Beulah"

Back to Gone With the Wind again... referring to "Mammy's" wisdom...

Here I gave recognition to the fact that Hattie "Lead the Way" for black actors...
