2010 - A Fun and Productive New Year!
I finished 2009 in a flury... really saw a lot of progress
on the schdule. With my extra time now it's starting to show up on the numbers waiting... well, today there are still
151 covers waiting for paint... but, that's due mostly to the continued incoming orders! My thanks to all who have placed
orders!
GETTING BETTER
I have been very pleased with what I perceive as steady improvement
in my resulting designs. Practice DOES make improvement!
NEW IDEA
This
week I had a request from a teacher who uses FDC Cachets to help illustrate subjects of study in their class. Great
idea and it seems to be working very well for this teacher. The request was for my Ronald Reagan "Mr. Gorbachev,
Tear Down This Wall!" However, the price of a hand painted cachet was prohibitive... and the wait wasn't a fit
for the use intended... So, I suggested that I take my scan of this design and print it on a Reagan FDC Blank and offered
this at a price of only $10.00. This worked for the teacher and the deal was made. I use Photoshop software to insure
the best possible color reproduction. Today I received word that the cover had arrived and the teacher was VERY pleased
saying it looked like a hand painted cover!
"Em-Print"
Versions of "Emrick Cachets" Designs
All
that to say my new idea is to open this opportunity to all of my "Regular Issue" designs. This would of course
depend on having the blank FDC covers. I believe there are many collectors who can afford and desire to purchase the
hand painted designs. I also believe there are many others who would like to add the design to their collections, but
do not feel they can spend the higher price and would purchase the printed versions. I would print these with my "Em-Print"
Logo on the reverse side to clearly indicate they are NOT Emrick Cachet Hand Painted covers.
QUESTION
My question to throw out to anyone willing to give input: Would you as a collector of Hand
Painted Emrick Cachets have any problem with knowing there are printed "Em-Print" versions of these out there...?
I would think that the distinction being marked clearly on each cover will remove anything that would detract the value of
either version.
What do you think? Please, let me know your
thoughts... and also let me know if you have any interest in a printed version of any designs you see on the site.
Again, the "Em-Print" Versions will
sell for $12.00 each and will be delivered within three days of their order.
I look forward to hearing from you.
